Dragon Rider Play

(He could maybe be distracted and not fully awake?  Or something?)

Jeremiah didn't hear Pat come in or speak. He was preoccupied trying to come up with a good way to tell Pat he liked her, and a romantic way at that.

Pat sat next to Jeremiah with a sigh.  "I guess you're out of it," she said in a low tone.  "I think I'm glad of that.  I was so scared when I saw you hurt.  I thought for sure you were going to die.  I don't know what I'd do if you died.  Keep going, I guess, but it would hurt so deeply I don't..."  She shook her head.  "I'm sorry.  I'm blathering on like a stupid girl and you aren't even awake to hear it."  Reaching up, she touched his cheek, caressing it gently.  He was a handsome boy when he cleaned up, handsome man, rather.  And she did care for him, deeply.  Maybe, maybe just this once.  Who ould know?  They were alone and he wasn' even awake.  Some part of Pat's mind shut down and she decided to do it.  Taking a deep breath, Pat stood and leaned over to give Jeremiah her first kiss.  "I've never kissed anyone," she whispered, her lips a scant inch from him.  "I hope you like it, even if you are asleep."  Closing her eyes, she touched her lips to his.

Jeremiah didn't quite register Pat was about to kiss him until she did. His mind was still in shock that she actually liked him, and his face flushed when she kissed him. He froze a moment before he did kiss her back lightly, and gently placed a hand on the back of her neck to try and keep Pat close. Fireworks were going off in his mind.

Pat gasped in surprise.  He was awake!! She felt embarrassment flood her, then she relaxed.  She didn't know what she was doing, only that this felt so very good!  She leaned into the kiss, her other hand coming up to frame his face between her hands.

Tithenor came through the ward, moving slow and careful.  He opened the door to Jeremiah's door without a sound, not wanting to wake him if h slept.  He took one step in froze.  Patrick was kissing Jeremiah...

(Wait, is this how Tithenor finds out? XD)

Jeremiah didn't even think that they may not have been completely alone. His only concern was Pat: the feel of her lips, the gentleness of her touch, the warmth of her skin...

(I thought that's how we agreed?)

Pat held Jeremiah close, still aware enough to be gentle, but she needed to breathe.  Gradually she pulled back and stared into Jeremiah's eyes, her chest heaving.  She caught movement out of the corner of her eye and froze.  Tithenor!  He wasn't supposed to have gotten here yet!
Pat stumbled back from Jeremiah, her face dead white.  Tithenor... She needed to think.  Pat bolted, running passed Tithenor and out of the ward.

Jeremiah tried to sit up, but winced and stopped half way through from pain. "Pat!" He called after her, but it was no use. He looked at Tithenor. "Please, I can explain. It's probably far from what you think is going on."

Pat heard the call but kept running, her hands over her face.  She felt humiliated.  Confused.  Exhilarated!  But mostly scared.  What would Tithenor do?  What would he say?

Tithenor cleared his throat, regaining his composure.  "There is no need to explain anything to me.  All is well.  I apologize for interrupting.  I wished to ensure you were alright."

"Really?!" Jeremiah said. "You have NO questions about that?!"

"I told you, elves don't get into each other's private lives unless invited," Tithenor replied.  He was uncomfortable.  SO very uncomfortable!  And he really wanted to unsee what he'd seen, but at least it wasn't his parents.  Ugh, stuff of nightmares.  He hesitated.  "Did you want me to have questions?" he asked uncertainly.

"Well, I still feel like I should explain." Jeremiah said. "You probably think you just walked in on your honeg sucking face with another guy from our team, right?"

"Uh, I am unfamiliar with the term 'sucking face,' but I think I get the meaning," Tithenor said slowly.  "Yes?"  Did they really have to get into it?

Jeremiah motioned Tithenor a bit closer so there was less chance of them being overheard. "Look, all this time, Pat was really a girl. She wanted an out to a fate she didn't like, so she dressed as a boy and got in that choosing line to be a rider, even though girls are forbidden from being riders. I have known for a little while now, but Pat was actually the girl I was telling you I liked earlier."

Tithenor stared at Jeremiah for a long moment.  Reaching up, he placed a hand on Jeremiah's forehead.  "Very well, Jeremiah.  Please excuse me for a moment, I am going to get 53 to check to make sure you don't have a fever or a bad reaction to the pain medication."

Jeremiah's eyes were clear as he caught the elf's wrist. "Tithenor," He said seriously, "/You cannot tell anyone about Pat's secret, okay? No one at all. You could ruin her whole life if you do./"

Tithenor studied Jeremiah's eyes. "/You are serious... I will not tell anyone./"

Jeremiah released a breath as he let his hand fall from Tithenor's arm. He was tired. "/Thank you, toriaun.../"

Tithenor patted Jeremiah's shoulder gently.  "/Go to sleep, honeg.  All will be well./"

"/Stay here please?/" Jeremiah asked. "/Or at least until Pat gets back? I don't want to be alone.../"

"/I can stay for a little while, then I must go,/" Tithenor said, sitting down beside him.  He wasn't allowed much freedom until after his month of punishment was over.

Jeremiah nodded a little. "/Okay. Thank you./" He said before Jeremiah tried to fall asleep.

Tithenor stayed as long as he could, but soon his guardian came to get him and escorted him to the next class.

Pat hid from everyone for nearly two hours.  She didn't want to be found.  The only one who could have found her was her dragon, and she trusted Nightshade not to give her away.

When Jeremiah woke, he didn't see anyone. So by default, and he not wanting to be alone, he did something incredibly stupid. He took the rest of the pain potion and slowly tried to get up to go find Pat without alerting 53.

Erika hissed, growling as she tried to stop Jeremiah.  What was he doing??  Back into bed!  Back into bed!
