Gaster nodded. "Just me and Paul then?" He asked to clarify. Perhaps he could invite Dr. Ally over for dinner.... the poor girl didn't get out of her house enough, in his opinion. She was too bright a girl to not have fun and mingle.

"Okay!" Shuni agreed, running to hug Paul tightly and say his goodbyes before cleaning up.

Gaster nodded and told Shuni his goodbyes along with Paul before they headed out. Both father and son admired the strangely quiet morning on their walk to school. Gaster struggled to remember the last time it was just him and Paul heading to the Elementary school. Once their, the good doctor told his youngest boy farewell and to have a good day before the ever smiling child ran off to chatter with his school friends. Gaster smiled faintly before he made his way towards Geena's house, his long strides effectively getting him there as swiftly as possible. After he got there, Gaster hesitated. He took a deep breath to compose himself, and tried to smooth his salt and pepper hair and jacket before knocking on Geena's door, bracing himself for..... whatever.

Geena looked at the clock then back down at her hands clenching the cup of strong tea.  Fifteen minutes.  Fifteen long minutes until he arrived.  Then she would have to confess.  She lifted the cup to her lips, trying to ignore the ripples on the liquid surface from her trembling hands.  Everything was going to be fine.  If nothing else, perhaps he would be willing to give her a good recommendation for another place to work.
A car pulled up outside.  He was here.  Geena took a deep breath and walked to the door, pausing at the mirror to fix her hair before she reached out to open the door.
The door exploded inward.  
Geena screamed as she was flung backward, almost falling. She stared in terror at the big, muscled, bike-build.  No.  No!
The savage grinned down at her wildly.  "Honey!  I'm home!"
Geena tried to scream again, but it ended in a gag when the intruder punched her hard enough to send her to the floor. 
"You thought you could hide from me?" he screamed.  "You thought you could run off with some other man, bich?  You're Mine!  I owned you the day you married me!"
Sobbing, Geena tried to get away, crawling toward the kitchen.  He followed her, punching and kicking her with every other step, screaming hate-filled obscenities to the point where they blended into one long roar.  She made it to the kitchen.  Geena tried to grab something to protect herself with, but he kicked or yanked everything away with disdainful ease.  She couldn't get away.  She couldn't escape.  There was nowhere left to run.
He kicked her in the ribs, blasting the air from her lungs.  He flipped her over and she cried out as something sharp sliced into her leg.  One broad hand wrapped around her throat while the other pulled up her skirt.
"I'm going to remind you what your place is before I put you out of your misery like the bich you are," he snarled, opening his pants.
She was going to die.  First, he was going to do the unimaginable, then she was going to die.  Geena's hand scrambled by her leg.  She found something hard and swung.  He grunted in pain and staggered back, pulling the knife from his side.  Blood poured down his ribs.  
"You!" he gasped.
Adrenaline got Geena to her feet and grabbing one of the giant pots above the sink.  She swung hard.  It met his head with a satisfying GONG!!! and he dropped like a potato sack.
Breast heaving, Geena dropped the pot.  She swayed then collapsed, falling away from the man on her floor.  She heard voices in the distance as she blacked out.  Sirens....

Right as Gaster arrived, the ambulance raced out of the drive and toward the hospital, lights flashing.  Police swarmed the place, instantly turning suspicious eyes on Gaster.  Was he a gawker, or a part of this?

Gaster looked about in confusion, and ran to an officer. "Sir, what happened?! How is Geena?!" he was clearly panicked.

"Please stay back, sir," the officer warned, coming to meet him.  "Do you know the woman who lived here?"

"Yes!" Gaster told him impatiently. "She is my dear friend and my secretary over at CalTech Labs! As her employer at least, I implore to tell me what happened!" His gaze shifted as the ambulance sped away. "Or at the least please tell me which hospital they are taking her!"

The officer relented.  "She was attacked in her home.  Both she and her attacker are considered critical.  They're taking her to St. Agnes Hospital."

Gaster paled a little at the name of the hospital, but nodded, swallowing. "Thank you, officer. Would it be possible to give you my contact information? I will handle any fines or legality for Geena, if it's all right."

The officer shrugged and took Gaster's information.  "You'd best get going.  She's going to need a friend, even if it is just her boss.  Unless there's someone we can call for her?"

"Not that I know of." Gaster said truthfully. "And thank you, Officer." He told the man before dead sprinting to the hospital, his heart sinking and awful memories threatened to resurface the closer he got. As soon as he got there, he went to the front desk, panting, and implored the nurse working it to tell him which room Geena was in, explaining that an ambulance brought her there not long before.

"She is still with the doctor," the nurse explained calmly, "but if you will take a seat right over there, I will let the doctor know to speak to you immediately."

Dr. Gaster nodded. "Thank you." He tried to sit, but his anxiety and worry forced him to pace to keep even mildly calm. He hated hospitals. He kept checking the time, growing more and more worried the longer it took.

It was almost an hour before the doctor came out.  "Are you here for Geena?" she asked Gaster.

Gaster immediately came over. "Yes, I am. How is she?" His anxiety was so thick it could almost be cut with a knife.

"She is very lucky," the doctor said.  "She suffered severe bruising over most of her body, three cracked ribs, and a gash in her leg that knicked the femoral artery.  She is going to need bed rest for the next week or so and a lot of aspirin, but she came out shockingly well.  However, there was significant fetal distress, so I am going to keep her over night to monitor the baby.  So far it looks healthy, but I would rather not risk it.  Would you like to see her now?"

Gaster blinked. Wait.... what? "FETAL distress?!" He asked in shock. "BABY?!" Why hadn't Geena..... oh. It clicked a bit now. He swallowed and tried to regain composure. "Yes, right. I would very much like to see her. Thank you, doctor."

The doctor - and the entire waiting room - stared at Gaster in shock.  The doctor recovered, attempting to hide the "I just put my foot in my mouth" expression as she turned and led the way to the hospital room and tapped on the door.  "Geena?  You have a visitor."
Geena looked terrible, bruised and battered, but she was more or less upright on her reclining bed and picking nervously at the thin sheet and trying not to fiddle with her oxygen tube.  She looked up at Gaster's blurry form with her one decent eye and tried to smile with cracked lips.

Gaster gave Geena a small and tense smile. Oh, this was just great, although he wouldn't say it aloud. He sat beside Geena. "Well... I can safely say i was not expecting.... that, when you asked me to come over." He tried to joke lightly.

Geena dropped her gaze, her smile fading.  "I'm sorry," she said softly.  "I'm sorry about everything."  She looked ready to cry but was fighting it.

Gaster gently placed a hand over hers. "You have nothing to be sorry about." He assured her. "All you need to do is focus on getting better. I'll take care of the rest. I promise."

Geena took a shuddering breath.  "Is he dead?" she whispered.  "As much as I hate him, I never wanted him dead.  Well, maybe... but not really."

"I don't know." Gaster said honestly. "All I heard was that you both came here in critical condition." His voice grew softer. "Geena... please be truthful.... this man... he has hurt you a lot, yes? In the past as well as today?"

Geena managed a nod.  "He... he's my ex-husband, Frank.  We married when I was 18, and... about a year after we were married, he started... It took me a long time, but I left him.  I haven't seen him in seven years, but I never forgot, and I... I've been looking over my shoulder so long."

Gaster looked at her seriously. "Geena. As long as I am around, that man will not lay another finger on you. As long as I am with you, there is nothing, nothing, he can do to you without sorely regretting." He promised her. "You deserve the moon and the stars, if they were anyone's to give. There is so much you deserve that from the sounds of it, he would never give."
