DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

~That would be great!  Where do you want to go?~

~Hmmmm... I don't know. I'm game for most anywhere, except Mexican. Not in the mood for Mexican right now.~

True considered as he put the finishing touches on Sam's picture.  

~Do you like sandwiches?~

~Yeah, I like them fine. Why, is there a sandwich place you like? ~

~I know a place with sandwiches that'll blow your socks off!  Meet you on the corner of 5th and Lex at noon?~

~Sure See you there!~ Kat responded. She looked at the time and focused on getting ready and looking decent. Not nice or fancy, but good.

True grinned and finished up his work then cleaned up nicely.  He paused, looking at himself in the mirror. Maybe Dad was right about the suit... Shaking off the thought, he distracted himself with odds and ends until it was time to meet Kat.

When it was time, Kat left so she could meet True at the corner a few minutes early. She preferred to wait rather than make people wait on her whenever possible.

True reached the corner exactly on time, grinning when he saw Kat.  "Hey!  You look really nice."

Kat smiled. "Thanks. You do too. So where are we going?" She asked happily.

True gestured down the street.  "Two buildings that way.  You'll love the place."

Kat smiled and followed True. She opened the door for him once they got there, and looked around.

"Hello?" True called, looking around for the proprietor.  "Sandwich God?"

Steve came out of the back with a hot turkey. His face broke into a grin as he roared a greeting. "True, my boy! How are you, and where is that rascal Will up to?"

True grinned and waved.  "Hey, Steve, master of the meats!  Dad's working at the Lab today, he's been falling a bit behind, apparently.  Hey!  This is my friend, Katrina.  Katrina, this is Steve.  He makes the best sandwiches in the world.  If the music biz ever gets dull, I'm planning on begging him to take me on as an apprentice."

Kat smiled and said a polite hello. Steve roared in jolly laughter. "No need to beg, my boy! I wouldn't mind if you wanted to start now and get a feel for everything!"

"I'd love to, Steve, but I've already got a lot on my plate, I'm afraid," True apologized.  "Right now, I'm just curious as to what you're going to do with that delicious looking chicken!"

"No worries!" Steve boomed. "I was going to carve this chicken up for sandwiches!" He cut off a hunk of leg meat and offered it to True. "Here, try some! The seasoning is my own recipe!"

True took a bite and closed his eyes.  "Mmmm, this is delicious!  I'll take whatever sandwich you turn this into, and Kat wants...?"

"Um, the same please." Kat ordered with a smile. Steve laughed. "Want an Everything sandwich again, True?" He asked.

"No!  No, another one of those and I'd die a happy man," True laughed.  "I'll just take the chicken, pretty please?"

Steve laughed and sliced True and Kat up some fresh and hot chicken sandwiches, putting some house made barbecue sauce on them. "There you two go!" He said as he handed them their sandwiches. Kat paid for hers.

True thanked him and insisted on buying them both drinks before wheeling out to one of the tables out front.  "This work for you?" he asked Kat.

Kat thanked True for the drink. "This looks fine." She sat down. "I'll admit I've seen this place before, but never stopped in. You made the food sound like it was made more for a five star restaurant than a local deli." She said with a smile.

True just smirked at her.  "Wait until you try it.  You might change your mind about the five star restaurant part."  So saying, he took a huge bite, himself.
