Dragon Rider Play

Pat squirmed, giggling, but she refused to move.  "My spot!  My spot now and forever!"

Jeremiah grinned. "Not if I can help it."

"You will have to race me for it tomorrow!" Pat shot back.

Jeremiah pouted but grumbled an agreement, although his eyes were alight with him teasing Pat.

Luke actually got in line behind Alistair.

"Maybe tomorrow you will win," Pat smirked.

Alistair nodded to Luke.  "Greetings, young Rider."

Luke smiled at Alistair. "Hi! Good Morning."

Jeremiah sighed dramatically. "Am I losing my touch?"

"I do not believe we've officially met," Alistair said.  "I am Alistair."

"Yes, yes you are," Pat said, patting his shoulder.

Jeremiah dramatically mourned the loss as they waited.

Luke smiled and offered his hand. "I'm Luke. It's nice to meet you."

Pat giggled and turned when the Chef announced it was ready.

Alistair accepted his hand.  "You are a part of Tithenor's group, are you not?"

Jeremiah eagerly got his food behind Pat.

Luke smiled. "I am. I'm trying to fill the spot Mark made."

Alistair smiled thinly. "Good luck with that. Unless you are quite remarkable, your team will stay in the place it has fallen. From forever first, now eternally last."

Luke just smiled back brightly. "I like to think I'm remarkable already. Mark always said I'd do great things one day. I just am not as much of a bulky fighter. I prefer winning my battle through inventions rather than with swords." He showed Alistair his wrist. "Case and point. With this, I don't have to be near the fight, and it's extremely accurate. Better yet, I could make a second one and use it at the same time at my other hand, which would double the firing rate, making me twice as effective as whoever is the archer for your group."

Alistair chuckled softly. "We all already have those, child. We use them primarily for grappling lines. Nice try, though, I am very impressed with what you can make. No one is impressed with you holding up the line, however. Move along, please."

(Alistair was in front of Luke XD)

Luke just smiled again. "If I may ask, what did you come up with for Professor Krudd's No Bridges challenge?" He asked as he started to get his food.

(Sigh, and it was such a good line.)

"A way to create a bridge," Alistair said as he served himself.

"Unimaginative." Luke declared as he piled eggs onto his plate. "I bet at least five other teams came up with something like that."

"I have no doubt,or perhaps I choose not to elaborate so that you cannot steal our idea as yours was stolen," Alistair told him, directing his attention to another team in the corner assembling a scale model of a flying contraption for transporting injured dragons.

Luke looked over their model and laughed. "Good luck to them. Honestly. I already see problems with their design."

"Its a scale model, of course there are flaws. The first time around.". Alistair shook his head. "You are so dense and naïve. I don't see you going far at all. You are nothing but a head in the clouds inventor, not a soldier. You belong in the classroom, not the battlefield, and when you are put there, you are going to get your teammates killed as they try to pull up your slack. Perhaps my way is not that fancy or inventive, but it works in the real world. Go back to your drawing board where you belong before someone gets hurt.". Alistair gave him no chance to replays he turned and strode away.

Perhaps Alistair intended to cause trouble through the young guy, but Luke instead was all the more determined to prove Alistair wrong. Throughout breakfast, he tinkered with some of his parts and wrote notes. There was an unkillable fire in his eyes now.

"What are you doing?" Pat demanded, shoving a piece of doohickey away from her space for the third time.

"Alistair said I was just a naive inventor with my head in the clouds." Luke said. "And that I'd be a hindrance and pull you guys down. So, I am going to prove him wrong."

"Well, you are the first part, and maybe you are the second part for now, but you're still finding your way is all," Pat shrugged. "You can't be worse than how I was at first."

Luke shook his head and ate some eggs. "I doubt that. Oh, and apparently another group overheard my idea, and are trying to build a scale model prototype. Only problem is even if their design works, the full size of theirs will buckle under the weight of a full grown dragon. Also, their propellers are in the wrong spots." He smirked. "Just don't tell them I said that." Luke put his pieces and parts away to work more on later.

Pat shrugged.  "they will hear nothing from me!"  Mostly because she wasn't sure what he was talking about.  "Ready for class?"
