DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

A couple hours later, Lex came in, whistling softly.  True nudged Kat gently.  "Do you mind asking him where he's been?  I thought he'd be home hours ago with Shuni and Ashton."

Kat paused her music and nodded. She left her keyboard beside True's bed and stood up, walking out to meet Lex. "Hey, Lex." She greeted.

Lex hung up his coat, glancing at her.  "Sup, Kit-Kat?"

Kat ignored the nickname for now. It wasn't as bad as some she had been called. "Not much. What was holding you up? True thought you'd be home when Ashton and Shuni returned."

"Nothin' much," Lex said, heading for the kitchen to get a drink.  "Just hanging a couple of kids by their ankles from a bridge.  Guy stuff."

Kat paused for a moment before she processed what he said. "Wait, what?!"

Lex glanced over his shoulder and smirked at her before fishing out a clean glass.  "Anyone ever tell you you take me too seriously?"

"Because you say that kind of thing like you meant it!" Kat shouted, still perturbed.

Lex just shrugged, filling up a glass.  "Whatever you say, Kit-Kat, but your shouting is scaring the cats."

Shuni looked at Ashton worriedly. (wherever they are right now)  "Is Kat angry?"

Kat shook her head and decided to return to True. "He offered next to no explanation." She sighed. "He mentioned something about hanging kids by their ankles, but then claimed I took him too seriously."

Ashton shrugged. "Lex is home. Kat doesn't exactly get along with him. Probably all their is to it. nothing to worry about."

True looked at her quizzically.  "Why would he hang kids by their ankles?"

"Oh.  That makes sense," Shuni said soberly.

Kat shrugged. "I don't know. He said it so seriously was my problem. I couldn't tell if he was joking or not. I can never read that guy."

Ashton smiled a little. "Hey, I have an idea. Let's see what movies are on TV."

"Well, depending on the reason depends on if he's joking or not," True answered.  "I wouldn't worry about it.  Long as he doesn't bring his.... secrets home with him."

Shuni nodded, lighting up at the idea.  The tv was still a magic box to him.

Kat sighed. "I suppose you're right..." She tapped a couple keys on her keyboard.

Ashton smiled and led Shuni to the living room and scrolled through the channels. What was on that was kid friendly...

"What's the name of that song?" True asked softly.

"What's that?" Shuni asked, poking the screen where a cooking show was listed.

Kat thought for a moment and played a few more bars. "The Dark by Trans Siberian Orchestra." She answered. "Pretty, but kind of haunting, if you ask me. There's lyrics too."

"It's called Good Eats." Ashton read. "It's a cooking show that has a theme of a certain food per show, or even just certain ingredients."

"It is very pretty," True agreed.  "What are the lyrics?  Can you sing it for me?"

Shuni stared at Ashton with an expression of complete shock.  "There are shows about cooking?"  Then he looked suspicious.  "For real?"

Kat nodded and started to play with both hands now, creating the chords, and sang.

Ashton nodded. "Truly for real. We can watch if you want."

True closed his eyes, humming softly.

Shuni nodded excitedly.  "Yes, please!"

Kat kept singing and playing until she ran out of lyrics and notes for the song. She smiled when she saw how relax True seemed. "I'm now taking requests. What would you like to hear next?"

Ashton nodded and kept it on the Food Network channel.

"Um..." True hesitated.  "Whatever you want.  Something you wrote."

Shuni sat cross-legged on the floor, watching with wide eyes, awe on his face.
"Whatcha watching?" Lex asked, wandering in.

Kat smiled and started to play a soft and tranquil sounding piano piece.

Ashton looked at Lex and grinned wickedly. "I've introduced Shuni to cooking shows. You're welcome."

True smiled and closed his eyes.  "It's as pretty as you."

Lex stared at Ashton.  "Please tell me you didn't!"

Kat blushed, but kept playing. She was glad she wasn't singing, because she knew she probably would have went off key.

"Oh, but I did." Ashton cackled. He was safe, because his food required no cooking.

True tapped his finger along with the beat.  He didn't realize it, but his right toe was tapping along as well.

"I hate you," Lex said emotionlessly.
Shuni didn't even notice, his eyes glued to the screen.  Such wonders!!
