"Mew?" Hugs asked.
"Don't worry.  Your person will come home soon," True assured him, patting his head before rolling into his room to get some sleep.

A couple of hours later, Layla returned. She made some coffee and checked on True, and seeing he was asleep, she quietly slipped in and left him a note on his bedside table telling him when she got home. After that, she snuck back into the kitchen and started to make cookies and prep a nice carepackage for Lex. She worked until it started to become morning, and started to cook breakfast for everyone.

Shuni staggered in, rubbing his eyes, as Layla started making breakfast.  "Are cookies for breakfast?" he asked sleepily.

Layla smiled kindly at him. "No, but maybe you can have one after breakfast. How do pancakes sound?" Her long blond hair was pulled back into a messy bun so it was out of the way, and she was wearing a floral short dress with a belt around her waist and black leggings. She looked good.

"I like it," Shuni yawned.  "Is Lex and Daddy and Ashton home yet?"

"They are still at the lab." Layla told him as she mixed the pancake mix together. "I think Dr. Gaster wanted to make sure Lex was recovering all right, so they stayed the night there."

"Oh, okay."  Shuni handed her the flour.  "Are you going to go by yourself to see Lex?"

Layla nodded. "Thank you. I was going to after breakfast. True offered to give me directions before he took Paul to school." She finished making the batter and poured the mix onto a hot skillet.

"You look nice," Shuni told her.  He considered then said, "I think you need a hat.  You should ask True.  He's good with clothes."

Layla smiled. "I have a hat with my things. I just haven't put it on yet. I didn't see the need to wear it inside." She flipped the pancakes, which were looking fluffy.

"But... isn't that when hats look best?" Shuni asked, helping her with breakfast.

Layla laughed some. "Not exactly." She paused in thought. "Should I save some pancakes for Lex?" She wondered aloud.

Shuni nodded when he tasted the batter.  "Yes.  These are good pancakes."

Layla smiled. "All right, and thank you. I'll save some pancakes for Lex then. I think I saw something that'd keep them warm until I get to the lab. Do you want to go check if True and Paul are up yet for me? Please?" She asked Shuni.

Shuni nodded.  "True will be up.  True is always up.  He doesn't get up if Kat is snuggling him, though.  She's nice and helps him get into his chair."

Layla smiled. "Kat's a nice person, isn't she? She's been nice to me, and seems to really care about True."

Shuni nodded emphatically.  "True loves her.  I think they will be together forever.  But... Daddy and Geena were supposed to be together forever, too."  His face fell at that.

Layla looked worried. "Shuni, what's wrong? Who's Geena?"

Shuni looked up at her sadly.  "Daddy liked this lady.  They... 'dated?'  Then something happened and she stopped coming over and Daddy was so sad."

Layla frowned some. "Well, they may have had a fight, and she needed a little space. Give it time and if they are to be together forever like you said, they will start coming around again and dating again." She looked in the fridge. "Hmmm.... If I'm bringing something for Lex, can you help me pack something for Ashton? I don't quite understand this 'diet' he's on, and don't want to accidentally bring him something unwanted..."

"I can do that!" Shuni agreed.  "Layla, can I come with you, please?  I want to see Ashton."

"If it's all right with True, I don't see why not." Layla said with a warm smile. "Since you know him best here, can I leave his breakfast preparations to you?"

"Yes!" Shuni cheered and scrambled to get things ready.

Layla smiled and finished making the pancakes. She poured herself another cup of coffee before prepping a plate for Lex and putting it in the oven to keep warm until she was about to go.

Shuni finished Ashton's breakfast - which was really easy since it was just sausage and bacon - and scampered into True's room.  True was already awake and promised to come out soon, so Shuni went to Paul's room next.
