DT Serum, Primary Testing In Progress

Lex chuckled softly.  "Jeffery is, indeed, a name.  Alright, unless Sam hates it, its name is Jeffery!"

Layla giggled a little before her face dropped. She covered her mouth a bit and swallowed. After a couple moments, she shakily stood. "I... I need a glass of water..."

Lex turned off the bot and left it to be picked up later.  "Come on."  He offered Layla his arm.

Layla looked up at Lexx curiously for a moment, but accepted. The girl was still shaking something bad from the withdrawal, and provided no resistance to be guided by Lex.

Lex held her steady, walking her back in the house to get water.  He sat her down and got a plastic cup, getting her some water.  "Here.  Slow."

Layla nodded a thanks to Lex and carefully drank the water. She tried not to think of the strong muscles she had felt in Lex's arms, nor how gentlemanly he was being to her. Instead, Layla tried to focus on the water, and keeping everything down.

Lex took his usual seat across from her.  "What's your favorite color?"

"Um... turquoise?" Layla told him. The question caught her a little off guard. "Uh, what's yours?"

"Black.  I think.  I've never actually thought about favorite colors," Lex admitted.  "It's always just been what's practical.  And..."  He cleared his throat.  "I have no idea what turquoise is."

Layla smiled a bit. "It's a light blue-green. It's also the name of a gemstone that shares the color." She looked down. "I, ah, have a necklace with little turquoises on it at home. Perhaps when I get a bit better... I can show it to you?"

"Sure, I'd like that," Lex nodded.  "Just don't expect any great compliments.  The only necklace I know anything about is one made of rope."

Layla looked down a little. "Well... if it means anything.... I hope you never have to wear a necklace like that." She swallowed and blushed a little.

"Nah, but I did make a couple kids wear one around their ankles."  Lex decided not to tell her about the time he'd made someone else wear one around their neck.

Layla watched Lex a moment before she shakily got up and gave him a hug. She understood he hadn't led exactly a glamorous life, but dwelling in the past wasn't good.

Lex sat awkwardly before patting her back carefully.  "Um.  Thanks.  I don't really... Thanks..."  Well, that was totally smooth.  Not.

Layla let him go after a moment and sat back down. "S-sorry." She murmured, looking at the floor. Way to make it awkward, she thought to herself.

"It's cool," Lex nodded.  "Just be warned my one little brother hugs everyone."

Layla smiled and laughed a little. "Noted." She watched a couple of cats playing not too far away. Just anything to prevent her from staring at Lex again.

"Cool."  Lex watched the cats a moment.  "Shuni has some toys in his room.  Want me to get a couple?"

Layla smiled some. "Sure." She agreed. Layla couldn't help but check him out as he left the room, and she blushed a bit.

Lex was clueless about Layla's looks as he walked over into Shuni's room and went to the toy chest.  Picking out a couple on the top, he returned with a feather strung to a stick and a mouse on a string.  "Which one?"

Layla smiled and accepted the feather stick. "Thanks." SHe tried to coax a cat to play with her via the toy.

The cat eyed her a moment then began stalking the toy.  What was this thing?  Pounce!

Layla smiled a bit as she played with the cat. "Do you know this one's name?" She asked Lex.

"Uh, I think that one's.... Fuzzpot?" Lex guessed.
